Suppose you want the kanji , pronounced “hasi.”

• You first type “ha” (using alphabetic characters) and get it converted to Hiragana (ha).

• Then you type “si” and get it converted to (si).

There are several Japanese words pronounced “hasi.” (English also has many words that are pronounced the same but mean different things: think of “rose” or “stock”). The system now offers you a drop-down with all the kanji it knows that might fit your requirements.
